BIRD WATCHING TOUR

Dib-saikhowa-Namdapha-Kaziragna

DIBRU-SAIKHOWA NATIONAL PARK is one of the Biodiversity hotspots in the World. It mainly consists of semi-evergreen, tropical moist deciduous forest, bamboo, canebrakes and grasslands. It covers an area of 340 sq. km. It is safe haven for many extremely rare and endangered species of wild life including over 320 avifauna both endangered and migratory, as well as various species of shrubs, herbs and medicinal plants. It is generally used for bird seeing more then wild life seeing. Park can be regarded as one of the richest and most potential site for harboring the water bird diversity in Assam.

In the border district of Changlang in Arunachal Pradesh, amidst misty blue hills along the turbulent Noa-Dihing River, lays a sprawling valley of dense, evergreen tropical rain forest. This is the famous NAMDAPHA NATIONAL PARK. It covers an area of nearly 2000 sq km including a buffer zone of about 177 sq km. Major portions of this National Park remain inaccessible due to absence of proper roads. Though most of the reserved area is inaccessible, the armed forces and wildlife enthusiast are making every effort to turn the sanctuary into a haven for researchers and ecotourist. Perhaps no national Park in the world has a wider altitudinal variation than the Namdapha National Park, which rises from 200m nearly at sea level to 4500m where snow covered mountain peaks sentinel in their frozen glory of ruggedness over the vast forest expanse. The river Noa-Dihing meanders through the park, fed by numerous tributaries mainly the Deban, Namdapha, M'Pen and the Korvaiwa. The riverine system forms the catchments of the Brahmaputra through the Noa-Dihing. Because of its sheer remoteness and inaccessibility the entire area is pristine and virgin.
